Plans are progressing smoothly for the 6th Annual Family Run and Walk at the Royal Golf Course scheduled for Saturday, 3 October 2015. The event will be kicked off with a cocktail reception on Wednesday, 9 September 2015 for the Platinum and Gold contributors.

Since 2010, the Organizing Committee has hosted an annual Family 2K Walk/5K Run as the largest fundraiser for the St. Christopher Children’s Home. The event is a healthy and fun way to foster community involvement in a worthwhile and needy project. Last year, the event raised more than $200,000 EC thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and over 1,000 participants. The Family Run and Walk will be held again this year at the Royal Golf Course followed by the Post Event Celebration at the Marriott Dome with lots of Food, Entertainment, and Raffle Prizes.

For more than 65 years the St. Christopher Children’s Home has been providing shelter, food, clothing and healthcare to children in need. Not only has the Home served as a residence for children without an official guardian, it has also been a safe place for children who have been victims of physical and/or sexual abuse. The need to protect these children is real; to provide them opportunity when everyone else has shut them out.

This year the Home needs the Community’s financial support more than ever in order to meet its operating expenses and maintain a vital service to the St. Kitts and Nevis communities as it battles the ever growing costs of living, as well as improving security and transportation needs of the Home.

Howard and Janie Giles visiting St. Kitts from Inman, South Carolina (in the southern part of the United States) stopped by the St. Christopher Children's Home this week. They made a cash donation of $100 USD. Their motivation behind the gift was to contribute to a charitable organization that helped children in St. Kitts. At the suggestion of Mr. David Caines they choose the Children’s Home.

Mr. and Mrs. Giles were traveling with Mr. Caines who is the grand-nephew of Myrtle Caines-Bailey. Mrs. Caines-Bailey was among the first group of children to live at the Children’s Home. Mrs. Caines-Bailey lived at the home from the age of 3 years until she was married at age 18 and recently hosted her 60th birthday party at the Home.

Also traveling with Mr. & Mrs. Giles were Desire McKay, Bryon Matthew, and Kevin Price.
